Security Systems
Policy 2000

2001 saw the implementation of the above policy, whereas in the past the policy has just covered Intruder Alarms, the new one is designed to cover security systems whether it be Intruder, C.C.T.V. Vehicle Tracking etc.

Our local forces implemented this policy on the following dates:-

Humberside 1st April 2001
South Yorkshire 2nd April 2001
West Yorkshire 7th May 2001
North Yorkshire 2nd July 2001

Listed here are some of the major changes effecting Intruder Alarms.

New applications for a URN (Unique reference number) will be subject to a £35 inc vat fee and must include a site 'Health & Safety' risk assessment.

With effect from 1st October 2001 all new systems must be capable of transmitting a 'Confirmed' signal.

With effect from 1st October 2002 all new systems must have the capability to be unset using a remote device i.e. proximity tag or swipe card.

The response level will now be downgraded after fewer false calls. A system will be downgraded to level 2 after two false calls in a twelve month period and level 3 after a total of five in a twelve month period.

LEVEL 1 - Immediate.

LEVEL 2 - Police response is desirable but attendance may be delayed, e.g. due to
                   resource availability.

LEVEL 3 - No Police attendance, keyholder response only.
